VRTECH is a community that brings together the vacation rental industry to share ideas and visions.
VRTECH accomplishes this through hosting meet-up events, startup competitions, and diverse educational platforms. In any area, the human factor is the most essential when it comes to creativity, inspiration and innovation. In this ever-evolving industry, it is critical to gather all the different players to not just gauge the current condition, but also to collectively discuss and direct the future of the industry.
Meet the Team
We’re not-for-profit, we do this to help the industry and to network.
VRTECH was founded by Vanessa de Souza Lage, co-founder and CMO of rentals united in 2015 in order to meet other startups in the vacation rental industry and get together with property managers. At our first meetup there were only 10 people. Fast Forward to 2020 and VRTECH now has over 5000 members throughout the world.
We believe in:
Community – The old adage, you are only as strong as your weakest player, holds true for any team oriented environment. The different parts of the vacation rental industry perform better when they operate well together. For instance, property owners have property management systems who have channel managers in order to optimize their businesses. This makes it more important than ever to collaborate, unite and support each other.
Innovation – The vacation rental world is dynamic and constantly changing. At its creation, vacation rentals were an alternative accommodation supporting the traditional hospitality industry. As the industry grew to stand alone as a competing accommodation option, a whole ecosystem of startups have been created to support it. This is the unique factor in the vacation rental world – the ease and availability of adopting new technologies in order to create efficiencies where traditional accommodation sectors could not.
Insights – In this modern world, sharing ideas and collaborating is where insights and ideas come from. Insights from a dynamic industry are constantly flowing. VrTech supports this insights driven engine to create a more powerful and creative market overall.
As an all-female team, we’re wholeheartedly committed to women’s advocacy. We support female founders in the vacation rental industry and want to help close the gender gap in leadership. Vanessa is the founder of the movement #tieonstage raising awareness to the fact that there are not enough women on stage at events.
